is a superb movie
Please watch it… and if possible watch it in 3D… unlike most of the other movies out there in 3D, this one actually uses the 3D effects many, many times.
If you are a viking, then dragons are bad news … they carry off your food and clothes (sheep) and torch your houses. As Hiccup, the very unlikely hero narrates right at the beginning of the movie:
“This is Berk. It’s twelve days north of Hopeless and a few degrees south of Freezing to Death. It’s located solidly on the Meridian of Misery. My village. In a word? Sturdy, and it’s been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunset. The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitoes. We have… dragons.”
if you are a viking and you are clumsy and skinny and scrawny and awkward and are the chief’s son, then thats even more bad news, especially if you want to fight and kill a dragon… and only get in everyone’s way and you are not even 13, and on top of that you like “inventing” stuff, well then, you are quite the outcast.
And then if you manage to down the most dangerous dragon, the elusive night fury, and no one believes that you did that, you are going to feel bad enough to go and investigate… you are a viking, you are brave right?!
And then you find out that everything you were taught about dragons is wrong … What happens then?!
Oh yes, there is also that cute girl you have your eye on who hates you, or thinks she does … Could you do something to make her think otherwise? and save the dragons? and your village? and your father? and your romance? and of course your dragon?
It’s a superb movie, funny, feel good, uplifting (pun intended) … the animation is spot on, the voice acting is fantastic and the music is brilliant! … Pure Entertainment!!
If you know some kids, take them with you when you see this one…
ps btw, it’s also showing on the imax in 3D
