Questions about Sex

Before my stint in AOL, I read a lot of Osho books and was highly inspired by his teachings which made me accept spirituality. So last year I had an opportunity to experience an Osho dhara camp in Lonavla for 3 days. I went, experienced and came back home, continued with my regular sadhana, seva, satsang with AOL.

Now, there is some conflict in my mind and I know you can help me!

Q. Somehow, I get the feeling that AOL doesn’t have a strong stand when it comes to problems like sex, craving and lust. I have heard that many enlightened people have not overcome their lust.  My knowledge is limited, can you please tell me how I can know more about this and what Guruji says about transcending the sexual barriers and emerging in love. I have read the normal knowledge sheets, books etc. but is there anything more or any specific meditations designed to transform the sexual energy?

A. First off, sex is not a problem.

Transforming sexual energy is quite straight forward, do many, many creative things, take cold water baths and do a lot of physical activity and exercise … this will minimize, not eliminate…

At points in your life, you will want sex, this is normal.

By making a big deal out of it, we encourage it … by trying to suppress it, we encourage it … by giving in to it, we still encourage it.

We simply accept it as part of life and in time, through our Seva, Sadhana and Satsang those desires leave us, just as when you are very young, your whole world revolved around some favourite toy and you couldn’t stay with out it, then as you grew older, that toy lost it’s charm… As the body and mind become mature through our Sadhana,Seva and Satsang, the charm of sex dwindles and drops off all by itself, very naturally and without much effort.

Q. Guruji is a divine soul but he has not attained through Sudarshan Kriya, can we use these techniques and attain Guruji’s state of mind (that blissful state!)?… Is there any higher sadhana?

A. Yes, we can. The Sudarshan Kriya gives us a taste of that state of consciousness, as we practice over the years we naturally ease ourselves into it. That state becomes us, we become that.

Just as Lord Krishna didn’t need the Knowledge of the Bhagvad Geeta to be Enlightened, but through that Knowledge, Arjuna (and many others after him) attained the Highest, similarly Guruji’s Gift to us is the Sudarshan Kriya.

Higher Sadhana is on the Adv courses 🙂 …

Higher still (if it exists) may be revealed to you when you are ready.

Faith is knowing that He knows what He is doing.

Q. Osho experimented with tantra and couple meditations which involve turning sex into ecstasy, AOL says we can marry but doesn’t  talk about making that love an ecstatic experience. I am ignorant and  am looking forward to your advice. I understand that our path is different and I really love Guruji and His Knowledge but please clear my queries which I have placed before you.

A. Tantra, couple meditations, etc are for people who are utterly obsessed with sex, think about it thousands of times a day … for them to get a taste of the meditative state these things are there. For them to get inspired to meditate these have been put in by the Rishis. They are a kind of an absolute emergency solution when nothing else works… so far in Art of Living, i have never ever heard of any one requiring that treatment… Sudarshan Kriya is enough 🙂

Love is an ecstatic experience. The Divine Love, that Guruji talks about in the Narada Bhakti Sutras is utterly ecstatic, and supremely sublime at the same time. As you move on the path, glimpses of it will come to you and over time, it will become, as Guruji says, Your very Existence!

Our path is very different from Osho’s as you have noted … and at least according to me, far more colourful … Explore fully (will take you at least an entire life time) and see for yourself!

Jai Gurudeva!

love

bawa

Bonus ps:

Q. When lust is overtaking me, what should i do?

Dinesh replies: Very slowly and deliberately take off your clothes, one by one, peel off whatever it is you are wearing … slowly, slowly … And then…

Take a cold water bath! 🙂

Jigish replies: Sexy bhav ko Sakshi bhav me badal dalo!

    Dear Bau ,
Our ancient text give many refences of people who practise brahmacharya and its benefit but Frued a famous psychologist spread the philoshiphy that sex is a normal thing and essential .I have read somewhere that lust is not our nature but due to the thought of sex in whole atmoshere we are tuned that means the thought of other people vibrating in atmoshphere effects us .Even the famous western writer Napolean Hill in his book Think and Grow Rich has mentaioned that benefit of not induging in sex .What do you say about that ?

  7. Ashish says:

    Dear Sir ,
Guruji had said that there are three level of consiousness gross , subtle and absulate brahma .Is there any sadhana to contact with subtle world ?

“By making a big deal out of it, we encourage it … by trying to suppress it, we encourage it … by giving in to it, we still encourage it.”
Ques 1:so is that a yes for having sex whenever we get an opportunity?y not?what is your take on casual sex?am i disrespecting my body then?

“so far in Art of Living, i have never ever heard of any one requiring that treatment… Sudarshan Kriya is enough”
Ques 2: Is there any hidden difference between normal Pranayams and SK(Sudarshan Kriya)?if a person doesnt do SK but does pranayams, how will he be different from the one doing SK after say 5-10-15yrs?

and lastly…how many cold water bath/gym sessions are normal then in a day?hehe..considering there is water scarcity in India anyway:P

  10. Krishna says:

Very practical answers…only when u r sitting idle and having nothing to do, the thoughts of sex come…i think when “sexy” thoughts are coming and bothering u, one should take it as an indication that he or she is sitting idle..that would spur him into action. Sex is not bad, but letting my mind fall into the rut of craving for it is.

Dinesh bhaiya’s answer was super good. Dinesh bhaiya rocks…and ofcourse Bau super rocks 🙂

sooper dooper dinesh da sexy bhay ko sakshi bhav mein badal do wow kya amazing thoughts hai so i guess in order to look good and feel good also that applies cos when everything is sakshi bhav everything is good only………love u too bawa…. and hope to eat some more strawberry surprise soon….

  20. Jitu Khatri says:

bau, can you tell us what is limit of indulgence in sex? When we accept that these feelings are natural? how can we seperate natural expression of feelings and lust? Be specific 😉

    • Bawa says:

Like what sort of answer do you want?
It’s ok to have sex on full moon days or You need to have sex twice every 57 days or Have sex every time you eat Biryani
Love is about seeing what I can do for others
Lust is seeing what can be done about me
A Natural expression is exactly that, natural and inevitable, a coming together of two people who are utterly in love… and when this super love is there, sex really takes a back seat… You are often times too thrilled to be in that special person’s company to bother. And when it does happen, its sublime and charged with love…
Lust makes you feel spent and tired … Really ups your Tamas Quotient 🙂
PLEASE listen to Guruji’s talks on the Narada Bhatki Sutras and Ashtavakra Geeta, and you will gain a lot of “specifics” about Love
      Jai Gurudeva!
      love
      bawa

  26. A Devotee says:

Naturally two people in luv of opposite sex attracted to each other will engage in a physical act, it cannot be called lust, nothing can be more beautiful than being in the comany with the person u luv….hence would like to know if one is on the spiritual path,is it a sin to have an intimate relation ship?will it reduce the satva? Was Vishwamitra not drawn towards Menaka…if yes then was he not a sanyasi as he is one of our most reverred saint?are sanyasi’s not suppose to fall in luv except with the divine..no offence meant to anyone, just a few questions? Jai Gurudev

Jgd Bau!!!!!! Awesome post!!You have answered all our questions so frankly!! lots of love

  31. Reema says:

    Jgd,
Your words are very true…. But then, fantasies always come on the way when we try to be straight and commit for something! Just like, v know we are’t suppose to have an ice-cream in cold, but mind runs 4 it…! human tendency…. cold water bath and a long sleep once in a while is awesome.
    Love u dinesh-bau.

  32. Jay says:

According to bhagvad gita sex is only allowed for reproduction ….but in kalyuga it is difficult for all person to follow this after watching “sheela ki jawani ” on tv ..but as bhaiya said sex is not bad its finally up to u wat u want. everything should be under control..there are many ways to control sexual urges if anyone want to perform but i don’t think it is necessary for normal devotee. And ask your self in silence wat you want you will get your answer for sure…
    Jay gurudev….
    Jay shree krishna..
    Jay swaminarayan…
