The Mum Test

This one is too nice to resist :)

A big thanks to Shivani from Melbourne who digs up the bestest and most obscure little pieces for all of us to read…

Jai Gurudeva!

love

bawa

I was out walking with my 4-year-old daughter.

She picked up something off of the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

‘Why?’ my daughter asked. ‘Because it’s been on the ground; you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty, and probably has germs,’ I replied.

 Moms know!

Mums know!

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked,’Mum, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart.’

I was thinking quickly and replied, ‘All mums know this stuff. It’s on the Mum Test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mum.’

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

‘Ohhhh… I get it!’ she beamed, ‘So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the dad.’

‘Exactly,’ I replied with a big smile on my face.

i find myself so comfortable in doing seva and getting myself involved in all the works of AOL, but i can not make a decision that whether i should go on continuing for the preparations for CAT or not since i like corporate world but i am extremely afraid. i went for the coaching classes, i was enjoying the preparations but when it came to the GD/PI it was asked to snatch the chance to express our points in the highest of the decibels. during the class of 2 hours i was sitting dumbstruck despite of having points to say i couldn’t. my heart was beating very fastly during the whole class and i turned very upset because of my pathetic performance and was weeping after it . i don’t know where i am wrong but yes i don’t want to get in that situation any more.

you dont have to shout to make a point
anyone who is rude and shouts will definitely not get the job
CAT is a good idea if you plan to get into an IIM or XLRI … most other b schools in the country are not worth it
in a GD … calmly stating some things or just summing up in the end will get you much more points than needlessly shouting

  39. Kanasu says:

mum’s always seem to know these things that other ppl usually dont. its funny!

  40. bhawna says:

A man and a woman, who had never met before, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, the two were tired fell asleep quickly, he in the upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 2:00 AM, he leaned over and gently wakes the woman, saying, “Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be kind enough to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold.”

“I have a better idea,” she replied. “Just for tonight, why don’t we
pretend that we’re married?” “Wow! That’s a great idea!!” he is excited.

And she says : “Get up and take it yourself”

    A comment about the post

‘My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, “You’re tearing up the grass.” “We’re not raising grass,” Dad would reply, “We’re raising boys.”‘ – Harmon Killebrew

    Dads are awesome. \m/

    ——————————————————————

@Kasturi Shinde: LOL. It’s an ad formula that’s guaranteed success! :D
But remember Dhara Health’s campaign too – “My daddy stroooon-gest!”

    ——————————————————————

Having said all that though, “Paa” was all about Maa, and Theodore Hesburgh has rightly said – “The most important thing that a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”

    Mothers are awesome. :D

    ——————————————————————

But don’t forget – the children make a man a father, and a woman a mother. So, the children are awesome too. :D
